Quadratics

The quadratic function

A quadratic has the form $y = ax^2 + bx + c$ with $a \neq 0$. Its graph is a parabola — opening upwards if $a > 0$ and downwards if $a < 0$. The curve is symmetric about a vertical line through its vertex (the turning point).
