Gravitational Fields

13 min read

Newton's law of gravitation, gravitational field strength, radial fields, gravitational potential, and orbits and satellites.

A gravitational field is a region where a mass experiences a force. Fields are always attractive.

Newton's law of gravitation

The force between two point masses: F=Gm1m2r2F = \frac{Gm_1 m_2}{r^2}F=r2Gm1m2 where G=6.67×10−11G = 6.67\times10^{-11}G=6.67×10−11 N m² kg⁻². An inverse-square law.
