Momentum, Moments & Pressure

13 min read

Momentum and its conservation, moments and the principle of moments, and pressure including in fluids.

Momentum

p=mv (kg m/s)p = mv \ (\text{kg m/s})p=mv (kg m/s) Conservation of momentum: in a collision or explosion with no external force, total momentum before = total momentum after. Force is the rate of change of momentum: F=mv−mutF = \frac{mv-mu}{t}F=tmv−mu — longer impact time means smaller force (crumple zones, airbags).
