Differential Equations & Complex Numbers

16 min read

Forming and solving first-order differential equations by separating variables, and the algebra and geometry of complex numbers.

Forming differential equations

A rate of change is modelled by a derivative. "The rate of growth is proportional to the amount" gives dxdt=kx\dfrac{dx}{dt} = kxdtdx=kx. Translate words into a d dt\dfrac{d\,}{dt}dtd equation.
