Integration

15 min read

Integration as the reverse of differentiation, the constant of integration, definite integrals, and area under curves.

Indefinite integration

Integration reverses differentiation. For n≠−1n \neq -1n=−1,

∫xn dx=xn+1n+1+c\int x^n \, dx = \frac{x^{n+1}}{n+1} + c∫xndx=n+1xn+1+c

Always add the constant of integration ccc for an indefinite integral. To find ccc, use a given point on the curve.
