Types of force, moments and couples, the principle of moments, equilibrium of coplanar forces, centre of gravity, density and fluid pressure.
Types of force
Common forces include weight (), normal contact (reaction), friction and drag, tension, and upthrust. Upthrust is the upward force on a body in a fluid, equal to the weight of fluid displaced (Archimedes). Drag/viscous forces oppose motion through a fluid and increase with speed, leading to terminal velocity when drag + upthrust balance weight.
