Cells & Movement of Substances

13 min read

Animal and plant cells, specialised cells, and diffusion, osmosis and active transport.

Cells are the building blocks of life. Substances move in and out of them in three main ways.

Animal and plant cells

Both have a cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, mitochondria and ribosomes. Plant cells also have a cell wall (support), chloroplasts (photosynthesis) and a permanent vacuole (filled with cell sap).
