Larger organisms need transport systems to move substances around the body.

Blood

  • Red blood cells: carry oxygen (haemoglobin); no nucleus, biconcave shape.
  • White blood cells: fight pathogens.
  • Platelets: help blood clot.
  • Plasma: liquid carrying dissolved substances (CO₂, nutrients, hormones).
