Linear Equations & Inequalities

14 min read

Solving linear equations including those with brackets and fractions, forming equations, and solving and representing inequalities.

Solving linear equations

Do the same operation to both sides to isolate the variable. Clear brackets and fractions first. 2x+13=5⇒2x+1=15⇒2x=14⇒x=7\frac{2x+1}{3}=5 \Rightarrow 2x+1=15 \Rightarrow 2x=14 \Rightarrow x=732x+1=5⇒2x+1=15⇒2x=14⇒x=7 If the variable is on both sides, collect it on one side first.
