Quadratic graphs

$y = ax^2 + bx + c$ is a parabola: a U-shape if $a > 0$, an upside-down U if $a < 0$. It has a single turning point (vertex) and a vertical line of symmetry. The roots are where the curve crosses the $x$-axis.
