Sharing in a ratio, direct and inverse proportion, percentage change, reverse percentages and compound interest.

Ratio

A ratio compares quantities. To share an amount in a ratio, add the parts to find the total number of parts, divide, then multiply. To share $60 in the ratio 3:23 : 23:2: total =5= 5=5 parts; one part = $12; shares are $36 and $24.
