Magnetic materials and fields, magnetisation, electromagnetic induction, the generator, and the laws of induction.
Magnets and magnetic materials
A magnet has a north and a south pole; like poles repel, unlike poles attract. Magnetic materials (iron, steel, nickel, cobalt) are attracted to magnets. Soft magnetic materials (soft iron) magnetise and demagnetise easily — good for electromagnets and cores; hard materials (steel) keep their magnetism — good for permanent magnets.
