Chromosomes, genes and DNA
A gene is a length of DNA that codes for a protein. Chromosomes are made of DNA and carry many genes. Human body cells have 46 chromosomes (23 pairs). DNA is a double helix of two strands. Different forms of a gene are called alleles.
