ICT Applications

15 min read

How ICT is applied in banking, retail, medicine, libraries, expert systems, booking systems and recognition systems.

Banking applications

ATMs — withdraw cash, check balances, transfer money; the card's magnetic stripe/chip is read and the PIN checked against the bank's computer.
EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) — money moved electronically between accounts.
Internet and telephone banking — manage accounts from home; convenient and 24/7 but a target for phishing.
Cheque clearing uses MICR to read the numbers on cheques.
