Hardware and software

A computer system is made up of hardware and software.

    Hardware — the physical components you can touch (CPU, RAM, hard disk, keyboard, monitor, printer). Hardware is internal (CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics/sound cards, internal storage) or external (monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, external drives).
    Software — the programs and instructions that tell the hardware what to do. Software cannot be touched.
